Thank you for taking the time to visit Nelson Christian Community School!

Nelson Christian Community School (NCCS) is a vibrant Preschool (Ages 3 & 4) to Grade 9 school sitting along side the Kootenay lake in the North Shore area  of Nelson, BC.

At NCCS we see the potential within all our students. We believe that education is about equipping students to become problem solvers, critical thinkers, active citizens in the community, and passionate in their faith.

While NCCS is a small school, we have some advantages that other schools could not dream of:

  • We have small class sizes.

  • Our staff get to know the students and families in our community.

  • We have a high ratio of technology to students. Tablets and laptops are integrated into most of our programs. Our devices are newer and able to handle the student program requirements.

  • We offer unique Blended Learning options for families who want to homeschool part-time and also participate in a Brick and Mortar school part-time.

  • We have weekly chapels, daily devotions and Bible classes.

  • We have a commendable Physical Education program that includes downhill skiing, rock climbing, track meets, cross country skiing, and outdoor survival skills. Our school has a large outdoor play space that includes a natural forested area.

  • We have a strong Fine Arts program that may include both Beginner and Advanced Band, Drama classes and performances, Choir, Visual Arts classes, and Music classes. These course selections are subject to changes on a yearly basis.

  • We utilize curriculums that exceed the standards set by the Ministry of Education.

  • We have a longer school day, which gives students the advantage of additional learning and exploring time.

  • We have a vibrant Parent Activity Council (PAC) that supports family fun events, volunteering within the school, and fundraising events.

  • Due to our proximity to Selkirk College, we have been able to offer hot lunch at the Selkirk College’s cafeteria (when available with their course programming).

Today, we live in a world that is torn by war and political polarization.  We see the pain and isolation that happens across the globe, in Canada, and even in our own community.  We believe that even the smallest act of reconciliation can move us towards unity and peace.  With that in mind, we acknowledge that our school and workplace is located on the treatyless territory of the Ktunaxa, Syilx, and Sinixt peoples.  It is with deep gratitude that we are able to learn, work, and play here in this beautiful place.
