Spring is on its Way?!?
Today is the last day of February. 2 months of 2017 gone already. If you're anything like me, the older you get, the faster time seems to fly. Really, can I just freeze time so that my little boy doesn't turn 9 on Thursday? I know the answer is a resounding "no!" so I'm going to enjoy each moment that I can.
The question remains, is Spring coming? Last week I thought so. Today (as there is a new centimetre of snow on the ground), I'm not thinking so. Never mind how I feel about Spring--rest assured, the warmth will arrive.
The advent of Spring means many things for a school. It means Vitamin D from the sun during recess. It is an opportunity for outdoor learning. It means Spring Vacation, a whole two weeks break. It is gardening and composting in Science class. It is a boost in mood and an increase in energy (for teachers and students alike). Like a caterpillar, it means we get to shed our heavy winter gear in exchange for lighter ware. On a spiritual note, it means we get to see the earth clothed in fresh green garb, and use that as a jumping off point to talk about growing in Christ.
Families, I hope that you are looking forward to Spring as much as I am. I love each season in their own time, but when life has been grey and cold and dark, there is nothing like the warming of Spring--both in the education world and out!
